Focusing of time-reversed reflections

چکیده
Recently time-reversal techniques have emerged as a new, important and fascinating discipline within wave propagation. Many of the problems involved can best be understood, analysed and optimized based on a random field model for the medium. Here we discuss stable refocusing of second-order time-reversed reflections. This phenomenon may appear as surprising at first. However, we show how it can be understood in very simple terms viewing the wavefield as a stochastic process. We give sufficient conditions on the Green function of the propagation problem for the phenomenon to happen. In particular we discuss acoustic wave propagation in the regime of weak random medium fluctuations and give explicitly the derivation of stable refocusing in this case, illustrating it with numerical examples. Single-channel time reversal in elastic solids
Reverberant volume time reversal in 3D elastic solids ~doped glass and Berea sandstone! using a single channel are presented. In spite of large numbers of mode conversions ~compressional to shear wave conversions at the walls!, time reversal works extremely well, providing very good spatial and time focusing of elastic waves. Ceramics were bonded to the surface as sources ~100–700 kHz!; a broad...
متن کاملReflections on the Ontology of Mass Art as Avant-garde Art
The aesthetics of “everyday experience” is made by a paradigm that defines the duality of the Elite art/low-class art by focusing on the art of the majority/minority, based on the desire of the urban middle class, It has been put as the art of the people in opposition to the art of avant-garde. The study is based on reflections on possibility of finding the main origin between the art of the ma...
متن کاملAn Improved Time-Reversal-Based Target Localization for Through-Wall Microwave Imaging
Recently, time reversal (TR) method, due to its high functionality in heterogeneous media has been widely employed in microwave imaging (MI) applications. One of the applications turning into a great interest is through-wall microwave imaging (TWMI). In this paper, TR method is applied to detect and localize a target obscured by a brick wall using a numerically generated data. Regarding this, i...
متن کاملTime-reversed ultrasonically encoded optical focusing into scattering media
Light focusing plays a central role in biomedical imaging, manipulation, and therapy. In scattering media, direct light focusing becomes infeasible beyond one transport mean free path. All previous methods1-3 to overcome this diffusion limit lack a practical internal "guide star."4 Here we proposed and experimentally validated a novel concept, called Time-Reversed Ultrasonically Encoded (TRUE) ...
متن کاملOn the focusing conditions in time-reversed acoustics, seismic interferometry and Marchenko imaging
Despite the close links between the fields of time-reversed acoustics, seismic interferometry and Marchenko imaging, a number of subtle differences exist. This paper reviews the various focusing conditions of these methods, the causality/acausality aspects of the corresponding focusing wavefields, and the requirements with respect to omnidirectional/singlesided acquisition. INTRODUCTION It has ...
